And I mean that literally, Reader!

Do you believe in coincidences? Because I don't. Last week, I shared my friend Bari's take on Betty Crocker's rice pudding. For my next recipe in the Betty Crocker project, I decided to revamp something from the same category. As I looked through the pudding section, a recipe for "pot de crème au chocolat" caught my eye.

When I lived in NYC, there was a restaurant around the corner from me that was my go-to. It was perfect for everything from date nights to family dinners to business meetings. Among the many delicious things on the menu, they offered a chocolate pot de crème. So when I saw the recipe in the Betty Crocker cookbook, I knew it was THE ONE.

Back to my point about coincidences. Periodically, Sakara hosts internal contests for its affiliates, and the same week I was planning to make the pot de crème recipe, they announced a contest to see who could come up with a new recipe using the Sakara metabolism powder. Since the metabolism powder has a heavy chocolate flavor, I decided it was worth a shot.

I'll keep it real because you know I always do. I didn't have high expectations for this recipe, but I was completely blown away! This chocolate pot de crème is my favorite creation from the Betty Crocker project so far, and I daresay, one of my favorite dessert recipes ever. And the best part? I won the Sakara contest!

Don't worry if you don't have the metabolism powder. I've included a cacao powder substitute. If you decide to purchase the Sakara metabolism powder, be sure to use my code XOJEN, which gets you 20% off your first purchase.

Dear Reader, Last month, I shared a post with gift ideas. As Father's Day approaches, I keep thinking back to the last gift I gave to my dad. Every year, I struggled with what to get him. He was such a no-fuss guy. I couldn't exactly buy him a fancy shaving kit (even though I did totally buy him a fancy shaving kit) because he was always going to use those cheap blue razors with the aerosol can of shaving cream. He never wore a tie unless forced. Honestly, the only gift that he ever actually...
Dear Reader, Does September give you back to school vibes even though you're not the one in school anymore? When my kids started school earlier this month, it meant more than just having to set my alarm clock again. I'm more organized about my day and more diligent about sticking to a routine, both at my paying job and my mom job. This is my favorite time of year to become laser-focused on what's working and what's not. In addition to fine-tuning my day-to-day schedule, I do the same with my...
Dear Reader, I'm sure your inbox and targeted ads are filled with detox diets and the promise of losing weight. However, I'm not a huge fan of detoxes for the sole purpose of losing weight. Weight loss can be a welcome side effect but typically, the lost weight will come back as soon as the detox ends. Instead, I go into a detox with an intention of learning and awareness. We "tox" ourselves with so much everyday that it's hard to distinguish between the things that are serving us well versus...
